For the internationally active, multiple award-winning design studio ID AID, the vision behind the design of Skandis was to combine lightness and comfort in a modern, clear design language. The classic swivel office chair was reimagined – more transparent, more reduced and at the same time with a strong spatial presence. The semi-transparent mesh back gives the Skandis elegant visual lightness, while the harmonious silhouette still retains the feel of a fully-fledged, comfortable volume. This creates a hybrid aesthetic that naturally combines openness and a sense of security. A special detail is the innovative, screwless plug-in system, which allows the chair to be assembled completely without tools in just a few minutes – quickly, precisely and intuitively. It underlines the holistic design approach in which aesthetics and function are in perfect balance. The lumbar element blends seamlessly into the back construction and uses its geometry for flexible, load-distributing support. It forms a functional detail that integrates subtly yet effectively into the overall appearance. The result impresses with precise design, structural elegance and ergonomic sophistication – a versatile chair for all modern working environments, from the Home Office to the classic office.
