Cable channels - do I really need them?
A well-tidy desk supports concentrated, efficient work and looks nice. Unfortunately, a look behind the desk often reveals a lot of chaos. Long cable strands quickly become tripping hazards and dirt traps. If a cleaner comes in with a damp cloth, then this area also becomes a source of danger. The space behind the desk is far too often neglected or completely ignored.
Cable ducts are a practical instrument for quickly mastering the chaos. With little investment of money or time, the workplace is perfectly organized, the cables are hidden, and security is restored. Especially if the desk is not on the wall but free in the room, great importance should be placed on both appearance and safety. An additional advantage is the fact that the cables in a cable duct are less likely to be bent or kinked and are therefore more durable.
What you should know before buying
The first thing you should do is get an overview of how many cables you want to run through your cable duct. Computer, screen, mouse, camera, speakers, telephone, lamps, maybe even a copy machine - numerous cables quickly end up on a single desk.
Remember that a normal network or telephone cable is about 4mm wide. But there are also cables, e.g. for screens, that are up to 10mm wide. So add the number of cables used with their approximate width to calculate the required width for the cable duct. And with foresight, leave some room for future purchases that you may not even be expecting yet.
Next, get an idea of how long the cable routing needs to be.
Vertical - horizontal:
So-called cable channels or cable strips are used to route cables horizontally along the desk. For many of our desk series, we offer you the perfectly fitting cable channels that are easy to install. The cables that run vertically from the floor to the table top are often enclosed in cable spirals that are movable and their length can be adjusted. When it comes to height-adjustable desks, it is important to remember that the vertical cables must extend to the highest setting of the table.
When installing
Simply follow our detailed instructions. This means your desk tuning can be done quickly and easily.
For safety reasons, please unplug your devices before assembly. Please do not lay damaged cables, but rather replace the cable if in doubt.
Also keep in mind that the cable ducts do not protect against moisture. So if you happen to drop a glass of water, unplug the device immediately before you start drying it.
