Blind cabinets - stylish and practical
Roller shutter cabinets are used in many areas, from the kitchen to the bathroom to the workshop, they are useful helpers. They are also often used in the office, especially when space is limited. Depending on the color and format, they fit well into both a classic and modern office environment.
These filing cabinets are available in two common versions. On the one hand in portrait format with a varying number of folder heights (OH) and shelves that can often be mounted variably. On the other hand, there are transversely aligned roller shutter cabinets, where the roller blind is moved laterally to open it.
Particularly stable shelves are very important for cross cabinets, as they are longer and therefore have to carry more weight. So make sure that the floors are stable enough that they don't sag in the middle after a while. The load capacity of the shelves is usually specified. If in doubt, ask the manufacturer to be on the safe side. As a guide, you should know that a wide, fully filled file folder weighs around 2.5 kg, a row of 12 file folders is around 1m long and weighs around 30 kg.
An even more important factor when choosing the cabinet is the smooth flow of the blind. Since this is usually opened and closed frequently, you should ensure that the roller blind and the roller rails are well made. The handle on the roller blind must also be stable and of high quality.
Last but not least, before you buy, consider whether a lock may be necessary. A lockable filing cabinet with roller shutters is ideal for confidential documents and valuables.
Cleaning the blinds
The blinds should be wiped down regularly with a duster to maintain their fresh look. If there are stains or fingerprints around the handles, a damp cloth, possibly with a commercially available all-purpose cleaner, or dishwashing detergent can be used. Please do not use abrasive cleaners under any circumstances to avoid discoloration.
The body of the cabinet and the shelves can also be occasionally wiped with a damp but not wet cloth.
