Counter chairs for maximum flexibility
Whenever the work area is elevated and regular office chairs are inappropriate, so-called counter chairs are used. Whether in the reception area, service counter, cash register or at any counter - whenever you need to sit elevated in order to be able to carry out your work, counter and counter chairs offer you an elevated seating position including ergonomic design. In order to provide the best possible support here, you will only find counter chairs with height adjustment. Only if you adapt your sitting position to your body can you best promote your back health.
Important features of counter and counter chairs
In order to give you the best possible comfort and protect your health, good counter chairs should have several functions:
- Continuous height adjustment
- Ergonomically shaped & dynamic backrest
- Particularly stable base
- Gliders or braked safety wheels
- Seat depth suspension
- Foot ring for support and for safe getting on and off
And optionally depending on the working environment:
- Armrests with adjustment option
- Rotary function
- An attractive appearance in publicly visible areas
Counter chairs with wheels or with gliders?
In order to provide optimal support, such high office chairs are usually delivered with floor gliders. With them, the office chairs stay in their place and moving them around is still possible with little effort. Load-dependent braked safety rollers are also often used. This is necessary so that you can get on and off safely.
Counter chairs with armrests?
While armrests are often the better choice for regular office chairs, this is not so clear for counter chairs. If you sit at the reception and only move a little from your seat, armrests offer you additional support and relieve your shoulders. Then they are the right choice.
However, if you often leave the chair and only use the chair for short periods of time, it is better to choose chair versions without armrests. This means you can use your seat unhindered and the additional movement helps to loosen your muscles.
Swivel function for counter chairs - top or flop?
As with the armrests, the swivel function is not always recommended for these particularly tall office chairs. In fact, the reasons are the same. If you stay in your place for a long time and don't move, the swivel function will help you sit dynamically and promote your health through movement.
If you often get up and then sit down again, you already have a lot of movement in your everyday work. The swivel function can even be annoying if you often have to adjust your seat before you can sit down.
