Have you been working from home for months and finding it harder and harder to stay motivated? Is the chaos on your dining table growing, along with your back pain from sitting on a kitchen chair? Then take a look at our 5 tips for getting your productivity back on track.

1. Find a new seating solution

Your kitchen or dining chair simply isn’t designed for spending 40 hours a week on it. Like so many others, did you think you’d be back in the office after just a few months?
We’ve all realised by now that working from home isn’t going away anytime soon.
And while it has plenty of advantages, it also brings a few challenges, because there isn’t always enough space for a dedicated home office, so the dining area or kitchen counter often has to do the job.
Of course, ergonomics probably weren’t top of mind when you chose your furniture. And after a long working day, you can feel it in every bone.

When it comes to your office chair, though, you really shouldn’t compromise. If you spend as much time sitting as most of us do, it’s essential to make sure you can sit ergonomically. What many people don’t realise is that ergonomic seating doesn’t have to look like something from a doctor’s surgery. That’s why you’ll find plenty of models with us that combine ergonomics and style.

Whether you love Scandi style, minimalism, leather or your favourite colour, with us you’ll find a chair that fits your interior.

And of course, you don’t necessarily need a separate office for this. All our models are height-adjustable, so they can be used with any table you already have.

You can find out how to adjust it to match your desk height in our guide here.

Tip: If you don’t want to be reminded of work at the weekend, simply store your home office chair in the cellar, loft or garage.

2. Keep moving

The great thing about working from home is that you can choose your own office furniture and work however you like, without getting strange looks. Whether you work standing up, sitting down or cross-legged is entirely up to you. Experts now recommend making your working day as dynamic as possible and varying the way you work. We all know that afternoon slump after lunch, and this is where it can help to simply work standing up instead of sitting down for a while.

You’ve always wanted to try a standing desk, but your boss tends to focus more on looks or price? Then now is your chance to test something that suits your taste.

There are plenty of ways to stay active during your working day. If you're on a budget, there are various laptop risers you can place on your existing desk or even use as a standing desk.

You can also create different surfaces for your feet to help keep your body even more alert. From sensory foot mats to balance boards or fascia balls, there are countless options.

If you're looking for something more permanent and have the space for it, take a look at our height-adjustable desks, which let you switch easily from sitting to standing at any time.

3. Out of sight, out of mind

When your workspace is moved into your own four walls for any length of time, it can often be difficult to switch off from work after hours. The same principle applies here as in the office - out of sight, out of mind. Try to put away as many of your work materials as possible; documents, your laptop or even your office chair should ideally be stored away until they are needed again. This creates a sense of closure, much like leaving the office would.

To keep things tidy, you'll need to create new storage space or find new ways to organise. The keyboard and mouse disappear under the laptop stand, while documents and the laptop can be tucked away in a drawer of your new mobile pedestal or laptop bag.

If you use your workspace differently after work or at weekends, your office chair can quickly be moved to the cellar, attic or garage. Try to make your surroundings as work-free as possible and avoid the temptation to "just quickly" get something done.

Tip: Think outside the box! Don't feel like creating new storage space? Then work with what you already have. Your headset might look great on a jewellery stand or a banana holder. Pens can be stored neatly in an old cleaned candle jar or a mug.

4. Mobile office is the new home office

Many companies have already announced it and are permanently embracing mobile office. Rather than home office, the focus here is on flexibility: you decide where you work from, whether that’s your own home, the terrace, a café or a colleague’s home.

To make sure you don’t miss out on the necessary comfort, there are a few things you need to keep in mind. We recommend a wireless mouse and a spare charging cable that always stays in your laptop bag. That way, you’ll never find yourself stuck with a flat battery.

Make mobile office easier with a suitable laptop bag or backpack, so you always have your office with you. This means you can quickly pack everything away on the train or on your bike and work from anywhere.

Our laptop trays also put an end to the awkward balancing act of using your computer, and they even give you space for your mouse. The trays also offer extra compartments for putting down your phone, drink or tablet.

If you ever have to spend your working day on a long car journey, our medical seat cushions are an excellent choice. They not only make an uncomfortable kitchen chair more comfortable, but are also ideal for car seats.

Plants have been proven to reduce stress, purify the air and can even relieve physical ailments . So why should they be missing from the place where we spend most of our time?

A workspace at home shouldn’t just be practical but should also make you happy and look good. There’s only one thing for it: a green accent.

If you rely on your lovely colleagues in the office to look after the office plants because you don’t have a green thumb , you’d probably be better off bringing an artificial plant into your home.

It doesn't exactly clean the air either, but it makes you no less happy, especially when it survives for a long time without care.
